European Data Workshop in Paris

European Data Workshop in Paris - 15 - 16 June 2023

While micro-data are becoming more and more important, there are several challenges related to access to such data. The most important are:

  • Administrative data are often available only to a small set of researchers who have been able to establish direct contact with the data providers. Often microdata access stops at the national boundary.
  • Micro-level data, even when made available, are often not comparable across countries.
  • Data assembled by private providers are often extremely expensive.

The outcome of the meeting will be a white paper which will be both a call of action for improving access to microdata in Europe but also a catalogue of what is already available. The idea is to centralize information which, so far, is dispersed across fields and researchers.
